Owner of Dos Hermanos and Dublin Chamber of Commerce President Lisa Gutierrez shares what inspires her about Dublin and her commitment to giving back to the community that helped her business grow.
Lisa and her husband co-founded the authentic Mexican eatery, Dos Hermanos. What started as a singular food truck has grown into multiple trucks and five brick-and-mortar locations, including spots in both North Market Bridge Park and Downtown locations.
Lisa’s husband is originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, and he sought to share his family’s authentic Mexican recipes. Using her experience in restaurant management, Lisa and her husband launched a new chapter in their careers. In addition to sharing traditional recipes, Lisa and her husband are committed to sourcing authentic ingredients that meet their quality standards for serving the community. Part of their mission is making sure the best, most genuine version of their product is shared with the public.
Since opening Dos Hermanos in North Market Bridge Park, Lisa says owning a business in Dublin is “easy because it’s amazing”.
“As a small brand that is looking for growth, Dublin is the perfect environment for that. It is a supportive community,” she says, referring to opportunities like Dublin Market, where she can share the restaurant’s brand and connect with marketgoers who excitedly try the restaurant’s fresh food. The support that Dos Hermanos receives from city events and community members demonstrates the “vibrant, talented and forward-thinking” Dublin that Lisa was excited to join.
Lisa was drawn to serve on the Dublin Chamber Board of Directors in an effort to give back to the community and play an integral part in helping other businesses grow. After three years of serving on the Board, she was elected president.
“I am proud of what the community has done and proud of that personal accomplishment for myself,” she says. “I’m honored that I am able to have a voice to share ways that people can grow their business in Dublin.”
As a minority business owner, Lisa says she lives by the motto “You can’t be it if you can’t see it.” It shares the value of diversity and allows every person a chance to see that they can be an important part of their work and community through role models. Lisa has lived her motto by becoming an empowering teacher to others. She also shares her advice of “be a part of it,” or embrace every opportunity that comes your way and grow within them, just as she has with Dos Hermanos and her role in the Dublin Chamber.
From entrepreneurship to being an energized, involved member of the Dublin community, Lisa continues to serve as an example of maximizing the collaboration and connections that exist between Dublin businesses to support continued growth and success.
